Candace Thompson

Candace is a professional dancer and certified fitness professional, specializing in personal training and group fitness. She is a graduate of Adelphi University’s BFA in Dance with the Ruth St. Denis Award for excellence from the dance department. Candace’s performing experience and dance training spans a wide gamut of styles and techniques, including Afro-Caribbean, Classical Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Soca and West African. Candace’s career in fitness began haphazardly in high school, where she entered and won the aerobic burnout competition. Candace has taught at gyms around NYC, including, Harbor Fitness, Lucille Roberts, Fluid Fitness NY, New You Fitness and Crown Heights Yoga & Fitness. Currently, Candace does in-home training for clients in Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, and she is excited to help clients on their fitness journey, reinforcing the need for hard work, safety, flexibility and alignment!

What is your greatest accomplishment?
The creation if my latest venture the Dance Caribbean COLLECTIVE.


Why do you feel personal health and exercise are Important?
Exercise has always been away to constantly challenge myself physically and mentally and a way for me to connect with others. As an instructor, I have seen how fitness can enhance people’s lives and their health, self-esteem and their ability to live fuller lives.


How do you want to be remembered?
I always want to be remembered for being upfront honest inspirational and FUN!


If you could go anywhere in the world on vacation, where would it be and who would it be with?
I advocate for Caribbean Art and Artists to be more widely publicized and rehearse with various dance companies throughout NYC.
